Collin Allen Child Development Center is an ever-growing learning center with one location and five classrooms, with students ranging in age from 8 weeks to 5 years old. We strive to accommodate Mount Vernon families with the quality care they deserve. Collin Allen was founded in August of 1983. The program is a DBA of the Macedonia Baptist Church. As a staple of the community, Collin Allen has supported families of all socioeconomic status and religious backgrounds.
Home Language
At Collin Allen Child Development Center, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all families through our Home Language Policy. We provide communications to parents in their home language to ensure clear understanding and meaningful engagement. During the enrollment process, we make every effort to have a staff member who speaks the family’s home language available to assist, creating a welcoming and accessible experience from the very beginning.
When additional language support is needed, we collaborate with external organizations to provide professional interpreters. Additionally, we may seek parent volunteers who are willing to support language needs within our community. This approach helps us build strong partnerships with families, honor linguistic diversity, and ensure every parent feels heard, valued, and connected to their child’s learning journey.
Daily Communication
At Collin Allen Child Development Center, we utilize the Brightwheel electronic system to maintain seamless daily communication with families. This innovative platform allows us to share important information about each child’s day, including details on meals, diapering, potty routines, curriculum activities, and overall daily experiences. Teachers update the system regularly to ensure that parents are kept informed about their child’s growth and development throughout the day.
Brightwheel also provides a direct communication channel between parents, their child’s teacher, and the administrative team through its convenient text messaging feature. Additionally, parents can receive real-time photos and videos that capture special moments of their child’s interactions in the classroom. This feature not only keeps families connected to their child’s daily activities but also fosters a strong partnership between home and school, supporting each child’s learning journey.
